Reveal a password you saved but can no longer read

Asterisk Password Decryptor recovers passwords that are stored behind a row of asterisks (•••••) in Windows applications — the ones you saved yourself and have since forgotten. Drag the tool’s target onto a password box, and it reveals the real password hidden there. It’s a small, standalone utility for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows.

It works with credentials saved locally in many desktop applications, such as email and FTP clients. Use it only to recover your own saved passwords, on a computer you control.

Frequently asked

What does it actually do? It reads a password that one of your applications has already stored on your PC and is displaying as asterisks, and shows you the underlying text — so you can recover a login you set up but no longer remember.

Does it work on websites or accounts I don’t own? No. It only reveals credentials that are already saved locally in your own applications. It is not a way to obtain passwords you never had.
